Pupil feedback as a promising tool to reduce stress and anxiety

Researchers from the Neural Control of Movement, led by Prof. Nicole Wenderoth, at ETH Zurich demonstrated that information about pupil size can be used to influence the arousal centres in the brain. This biofeedback can allow people to better learn to control their state of arousal through mental relaxation and activation techniques. In the future, this means stress- and anxiety-related disorders could be treated in a playful way using a VR headset.
